Miami's rainy season, roughly May through October, tests every part of a home: roofs, seals, drainage and exterior surfaces. A quick maintenance pass before the season peaks can prevent much bigger repairs later.
Start with drainage: make sure gutters, downspouts and yard drainage are clear so water moves away from the foundation instead of pooling against it. Check exterior caulking around windows and doors for gaps that could let water in.
Inside, look for early signs of moisture: musty smells, soft drywall, or small stains on ceilings and walls near windows. Catching these early turns a small repair into a quick fix instead of a bigger restoration job.
If you're not sure what to check or don't have time to do it yourself, a single maintenance visit from a handyman can cover the whole list, gutters, caulking, loose fixtures and a general walkthrough, in a couple of hours.
